Paul Farrell's work is inspired by a combination of his love for nature and a passionate interest in the graphic arts.
Before concentrating on a career that focuses on art and illustration Paul had trained and worked as a graphic designer in London for the last 23 years.
His main body of work, the Tree series, is an example of Paul’s strong graphic style. Silhouettes are the epitome of graphic design and illustration, as they help identify and visually communicate an object clearly by the simplest of methods . The variety and interesting outline of natural forms, in particular the tree, are emphasised by the use of the silhouette. Colour is as equally important when representing an image.
Paul devotes much of his time collecting and applying combinations of colours sourced from natural and urban environments. The subject’s scale, detail and natural form are all an inspiration when creating the final image. All images in the Tree series have been photographed at selected spots around the UK and abroad.
