Gnome Invasion

Urban Gnome
The Urban Gnome a fine bone china product is the alternative to the traditional garden gnome – it is the “must-have” gnome for the modern, urban consumer. There are two ranges of six gnomes, each standing at 21cm high – the Launch range and the Organic range. The Launch range of Urban Gnomes are: Dragon; Eskimo; Heart; Skull; Wings; Zip. The Organic range of Urban Gnomes are: Ants; Bamboo; Dandelion; Scatter; Undergrowth; Wallpaper.

The Organic range
The Organic range is a collection of six Urban Gnomes: Ants, Bamboo, Dandelion, Scatter, Undergrowth, and Wallpaper. Each is designed to give a unique take on nature, whether it’s the intricate flowers on the wallpaper or the ants following the pattern of the London Underground map.

“With the initial range we created the character of the Urban Gnomes,” says Vitamin director Andy Vernall. “They were designed to be playful additions to the home, products to make you smile. They’ve been a massive success and we’ve had interest from all over the world and many requests
for a second range.”

Vitamin director Chris Vernall says the second range opens the Urban Gnomes out to a new market. “The individuality of each of the Gnomes in the initial range firmly established them as characterful, quirky products,” he says. “That then gave us the platform to use the products as blank canvasses for the second range. We chose the nature theme as it is a marked difference from the initial range and gives the Gnomes a softer look. We see them adding something different to an interior design and providing that finishing touch.”

This installation concept by Joe Madeira brings together
for the first time over 200 of these magnificent creatures to the the space of an art gallery.
