‘Knit Knot Teapot’ includes work by artists from across the UK as well as eclectic cosies created by the local community, young and old, at a series of knitting workshops held throughout March 2008.
“I wanted to make a cosy to inspire the discussion of death and - an opportunity to remember loved ones and retell memories,” says Gayle Rogers from Cardiff, who created the gravestone-encrusted ‘Teaplot’.
A crown, a cauliflower, a cemetery and an ice cream are among the weird and wonderful knitted tea cosies featured. Other unusual and quirky work in the show includes a ‘sea cosy’ complete with lighthouse, a ‘green tea monster’ based on 80s children’s TV character Gordon the Gopher, and a cosy made from wool dyed with real tea.
Curated by Joe Madeira and Jane Porter. A ‘Little Booklet of Knitting and Tea’ accompanies the show.
